El Pachuco – Ocean View, Hawai’i

El Pachuco, located in the Ka’u Outpost, is the best if not only Mexican restaurant in Ocean View, Hawai’i. Run by Evie and her husband Jimi, El Pachuco offers up a wide variety of freshly prepared Mexican favorites. They used to offer the best tamales I’ve ever had, but they were very time consuming to make. So, Evie opted to stop preparing tamales, except for special occasions. They now have a variety of tacos, enchiladas, tostadas, burritos, and they don’t forget the vegans with their giant vegan burrito.

Here’s the El Pachuco dinning area inside the Ka’u Outpost.

More seating, and the order counter. On top of the counter you’ll find the most delicious macnut brownies. Make sure to try one for dessert.

If you opt to dine in, you’ll receive freshly made chips and salsa while you wait. These aren’t those chips out of a bag. They’re crisp, lightly salted, and they went prefect with the pineapple salsa.

If you order two tacos, then rice and beans are included. Not a bad deal for $6.00!!!

Here’s the picadillo taco with red salsa. Plenty of ‘ono grinds!
If you’re on visiting the island or driving from Kona to Hilo make sure to stop by El Pachuco for some wonderful Mexican fare.
