Happy King Kamehameha Day! It is officially a holiday in the state of Hawai’i. Today, i just let the take me where it wanted take me without putting any limitations on my expectations or requirements. I didn’t initially start ou that way, but I was happy to let go.
This allowed for fun meetings, and interactions all day. After, visiting the swap meet, and the Ka’u family funfest, I ended up walking the streets of downtown Hilo. I’m finding a benefit to walking meditation, and my latest book read, You Say More Than You Think by Janine Driver.

Testing out the new WP iPhone app. I hope this version makes things easier. If so, I’ll be back to posting.

I have decided to move this blog from peheaoe.com to hawaiiislandlife.com. Hawaii Island Life seemed to be a more appropriate name for the type of posts I have been doing. Also, I’ve found that pehea ‘oe? is hard some people to remember. Hawaii Island Life is more of a magazine format, and will allow me to feature posts, while still updating news & media releases that might not be of interest to some. I hope you like the new format. Feel free to let me know what you think. I’m still tweaking the site, but I felt it was ready enough to announce.

It’s been known for awhile that Border’s was having some financial problems, and with the closure of the Hilo store last year. It was pretty much just a matter of time before the Kona store would close too. I have noticed that stock levels had been decreasing, and certain magazine publishers weren’t in the Kona store over the last few months. Today, Border’s officially announced bankruptcy, and released a list of over 200 store to close on their website: http://bordersreorganization.com/ The Kailua-Kona and Lihue locations will be closed by the end of April..
I’m really sad, as Border’s was the only bookstore on the island that offers a large selection of magazine & technical books. Now, I’m wondering if we can convince B&N to open a store here?

Last week, I had the opportunity to hang out with our neighbors Ann & Peter from CavePics as they explored a new cave in Ocean View. Here are a few pictures of them entering the new cave. Ann & Peter have a great interest in documenting the cave systems of Ka’u, Hawai’i, and other parts of the world. Check out their website CavePics to see their wonderful cave pictures.
