The First Annual Ka’u Classic To Clunkers Car Show was held in Ocean View this last weekend. Ocean View Auto Parts hosted the event, which was a fundraiser to provide computers to the Na’alehu School 6th graders.

KAHU Radio came out to provide music, and a live broadcast of the event on their station. KAHU is the only radio station broadcasting Ka’u. The signal isn’t currently received in Ocean View, but you can now listen via streaming on the KAHU Radio station.

The engine elimination resulted in 2 winners of $100 gift certificate to Ocean View Auto Parts. The action and noise of the engine elimination was incredible, but lasted just under a minute. The FORD lasted the lasted the longest in the elimination.

Classic cars and clunkers of all sorts showed up for the event. Shelby Cobras, Corvettes, Pacers, Ramblers, VWs were here to see.

Monies raised resulted in the purchase of 30 computers and a recharge cart that will allow the computers to be shared between two sixth grade classes.

Food booths were on hand to cure any hunger pains.
Trophies were handed out to cars at the show. I sponsored the “Funky Clunker” trophy. The First Annual Ka’u Classic To Clunkers Car Show had a fantastic turn out with car from Mountain View, Kona, bikes from Puna & Hilo, all turning out to support this great event. I hope to be able to participate again next year.
